The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and High-level Segment of ECOSOC (HLS)

The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and High-level Segment of ECOSOC (HLS) will be convened from Tuesday, 7 July, to Thursday, 16 July 2026, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. This includes the three-day ministerial segment of the forum from Monday, 13 July, to Wednesday, 15 July 2026, as part of the High-level Segment of ECOSOC.

The theme of the HLPF is “Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for a sustainable future for all”.

The HLPF will conduct in-depth reviews of Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), considering the integrated, indivisible and interlinked nature of the Goals.  Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.

Thirty-six countries will present voluntary national reviews (VNRs) of their national implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs as follows: Albania, Algeria, Bahrain, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Estonia, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Italy, Jamaica, Jordan, Kiribati, Liberia, Malawi, Marshall Islands, Mozambique, Norway, Republic of Moldova, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somalia, Switzerland, Togo, Tonga, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, United Republic of Tanzania, and Uruguay.

The HLPF is expected to bring together ministerial and high-level representatives of governments, as well as a wide range of expertise and stakeholders, including heads of UN entities, academics and other experts, and representatives of major groups and other stakeholders. Additional platforms, including side events, VNR Labs, special events, and exhibitions will be organized around the HLPF.
